Obituary

Imogene “Jean” Repke. The Holy Spirit called Jean home on December 14, 2019 to be with family and friends who passed before her. Jean was born on March 28, 1926 in Unionville, Michigan on the homesteaded farm of her great-grandfather John Schmidt.

Jean was married to Reinhold Zemke for 19 years, producing three unique and caring children; Paul (Barbara) Zemke of Paso Robles, CA; Philip (Leila) Zemke of Bozeman, MT and Denise Zemke of Polson, MT. The Zemke children gifted Jean with 8 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren.

Jean enriched her life with reading, painting, gardening and cooking for the church and shut-ins. Jean’s life passion was nursing and worked in the medical field including the State of Michigan Health Department, supervising mentally disabled patients.

Jean later remarried Steven Repke and they were married for 18 years and when they retired, Montana called. They fell in love with Polson, the people, lake, mountains, sky and the entire unspoiled state.

Jean became a member of the St. Andrew’s Episcopal Church in 1984. She was active in all aspects of church life, her faith and church family was her lifeline. Jean also was a Sandpiper Art Gallery member for 25 years and was involved in the Loaves and Fish Pantry and volunteered at the second hand Country Store.

Jean believed God’s grace helped her during difficult times and blessed her with lots of good times. Her last years living by Flathead Lake and visiting the local library created peace and tranquility in the “Last Best Place”.

There will be a memorial celebration of Jean’s life on her birthday, March 28, 2020 at St. Andrew’s Episcopal Church. The time of her celebration will be announced at a later date.
