Anna B. Lucas

April 21, 1933 — October 1, 2023

Polson

Anna (Martinson) Lucas peacefully passed away October 1, 2023, in Polson, MT at the age of 90.   She was a wonderful mother who was always there when we needed her.  She cared deeply for her family and friends not out of a sense of obligation but because of who she was as a person.  She had many friends and was a well-loved member of the Polson community.   Mom always had concern for others and gave generously of her time and talents.  She will be remembered for having a cheerful smile on her face and a kind word for everyone.

Anna was born on April 21, 1933, in Terry, MT.  She spent her childhood in Creston, MT on the family farm with her eight brothers and sisters.  She grew up riding horses, feeding chickens, driving a tractor, ice skating, swimming, and fishing on the ponds that surrounded the farm.

Mom met the love of her life, Donald Lucas, at the University of Montana where she studied home economics and music.  They were married on January 17, 1953, and went on to have five children, Deb, Chris, Lori, Kelly, and Pete.

Anna worked many years as a sawyer at the Western Bee Supply until she retired in 1990.  After her retirement she took many trips with Don and other family members to Greece, Sweden, Norway, Germany, Austria, Italy, and the Hawaiian Islands.  She loved entertaining family and friends at her lake home.  Mom enjoyed bridge, pinochle, cribbage, puzzles, and other card games.  She was a seamstress and an excellent woodcarver.  Organizations she was involved with were Eastern Star, Beta Sigma Phi, Kiwanis, and Red Hats.

Anna was predeceased by her husband, Don, her father and mother, Nels and Elsie Martinson, her siblings Willis, Elfred, Glenn, Lloyd, Carl, Nora, and Opal.  She is survived by her sister, Della Dooley, her children Deb Holm (Randy), Chris, Lori, Kelly Shull (Dick), Pete (Barb), her grandchildren Ryan (JoAnne), Anne (Erin), Lindsey (Josh), Katy (Bryce), Nick (Jamie), Alec (Micaela), Ainur, Marcus and Raya, and 9 great grandchildren.

Services will be held at the Polson Community Church, 1814 First Street E., Polson, MT on Saturday, October 14, 2023, at 11:00 a.m.  In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the Polson Community Church, or the Kiwanis Foundation of Montana designated for the Polson community, P.O. Box 10878, Kalispell, MT 59904.
