Barbara Jane Vanders

Barbara Jane Goetsch Vanders, age 80, passed away July 24, 2026, at Mineral Community Hospital, Superior. She was born March 4, 1946, in Minot, ND to Carl and Doris (Barr) Goetsch. 

Barb has done so much in her life that many of us will never adventure. Barb was one of the best bartenders around. Places she worked was the Mint Bar in Shelby, and all the bars in Polson. Mom was great at playing pool. She was a hustler and also came in 1st place in Montana state championships. 

Barb became a Landman buying and selling oil mineral rights in the early 80’s and took off on the road. She flew small planes, went on cruises, loved Phantom of the Opera, and ate seafood every day. She loved to cook large pots of homemade spaghetti and feed friends. She loved life in the fast lane – to crank up the music and put the cruiser on. Very old fashion, still used maps never GPS.

She is listening to music and dancing in heaven.

Her favorite nickname “BBB” BITCHY BOSSY BARB.

She is survived by her son Teddy Carl Vanders and daughter Vanessa Vanders Martin, grandchildren; Tiffany Martin Anderson and Justin Martin, Chris Vanders and Nick Vanders, great-grandchildren; Sebastian Vanders, Brooklyn Anderson, and Brightly Anderson.

A visitation will be held on Thursday, July 30, 2026, from 2:00-4:00 pm at The Lake Funeral Home and Crematory.
