Betty May McLean, 87, of Polson, Montana, passed away peacefully on June 21, 2025. She was born on September 17, 1937, in Spokane, Washington. Betty was a cherished wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother, aunt and great-aunt. She will always be remembered for her spirit, humor and her remarkable ability to make everyone feel welcomed.
After graduating from Whitworth College in 1958, Betty dedicated her life to education, working as an elementary school teacher, choir director, and activities director. Betty married the love of her life, Norman McLean, on June 28, 1958, and were blessed with over six decades of joy and companionship. They cherish their three children: Karla, Kevin and Kroy.
Her passions included painting, ceramics, quilting, and gardening. Betty enjoyed biking and swimming, as well as spending quality time with her family. Known as a great hostess, Betty always opened her home and heart with enthusiasm. She kept her signature cookies ready to share with anyone in the neighborhood or those that would drop by for a visit.
Betty McLean leaves behind her devoted husband, Norman McLean, her children Karla Gallatin (Jeff Gallatin), Kevin McLean (Doug Startzel), Kroy McLean (Monica McLean); grandchildren Amy Gallatin (Corry Fitzgibbons), Josh Gallatin, Sarah McLean, Samuel McLean, Sophia McLean, Samantha Startzel-McLean and Latosia Hunter; great-grandchildren Benjamin Fitzgibbons and Liam Fitzgibbons; and many who knew and adored her.
