Dawn Marie (Hanson) Balog

Dawn Marie Hanson Balog of Palm Springs, CA, passed away on July 15, 2026, in Aurora CO. She was born on April 2, 1966, to Jerome and Margaret (Zimmerman) Hanson in Key West, Florida. 

Dawn attended school in Polson, MT, graduating from Polson High School, Polson MT in 1985. She obtained her Associate Degree in Business from Flathead Community College and then obtained her Bachelor’s Degree in Business Accounting from Montana State University in Bozeman MT. Following college, she moved to Palm Springs, CA, was an Avon representative and worked as the office manager at Log On, a chain of internet cafes. There she met the owner and the love of her life, Janos Balog. They were married on September 9, 2009, on the beach at Grand Cayman while on a cruise. 

Dawn and Janos retired at an early age and began traveling the country and the world. They enjoyed many cruises to many places around the world. While traveling the country, they nearly covered all 50 states. Although busy traveling she always found time to attend her nieces and nephews’ graduations, weddings, and other special events, as well as great nieces and nephews’ special occasions. Dawn never missed reaching out to family members to extend birthday wishes on their special day. 

Dawn is preceded in death by her parents, her sister Angie Coxen, her brother-in-law Norman Shaw, grandparents, Edwin and Blanche Hanson and Walter and Delma Zimmerman, her nieces, Cheyanne Coxen, and Zoe Balog and in laws Janos and Eva Balog, and brother-in-law George Balog. 

Dawn is survived by her husband, sisters, Jolene (Jay) Morine, Kalispell MT, Wendy (James) Popelka, Belleville KS, brother, Jami (Staci) Hanson, Polson MT, brother in-law Doug Coxen, Polson MT. She is also survived by her Uncle and Aunt, Rodney and Sharon Hanson, Polson MT. sisters-in-law Eva Bennett, San Francisco CA and Susan Balog, Palm Springs, CA. Nieces and nephews, Matt (Holly) Popelka, Deanna (Bob) Morris, Gareth Shaw, Alysia (Tommy) Enseleit, Sarah (Alan) Hartung, William (Haley) Popelka, Candace Coxen, and Mckenna Hanson. And many close great nieces and nephews, cousins, and family and friends. 

A memorial service will be held at a later date in Polson MT. with inurnment immediately following at Lakeview Cemetery, Polson.
