DeLane Mildred Newgard

July 23, 1924 — May 23, 2022

DeLane Newgard, 97, passed away on May 23, 2022, at the Pines of Mission in St. Ignatius, MT. She was born in Drake, N.D. to Louis and Martha Etter on July 23, 1924.

DeLane grew up and lived in Polson most of her life. She graduated from Polson High School in 1942. Early in 1942 she met Mordie Newgard, the love of her life and they were married on Oct. 3, 1942. They lived in Pablo for a short time and then bought a home in Polson, where they raised their three children.

Preceding her in death were her parents, Louis and Martha (Kalk) Etter, her husband, Mordie Newgard and their daughter Cora Lee Newgard, and her son-in-law Glen Knopp.

She is survived by her daughter Barbara (Newgard) Knopp and her son Thomas Newgard and wife Kathie. Barbara’s sons - Shawn Glen Knopp and Alan Glen Knopp and Michelle; her daughter Stacy (Knopp) Penhorwood and Timothy. Tom’s children; daughter Tara and Steve Carvey, son Kory and Tiffany Newgard. Great grandchildren: Michael & Amanda Knopp, Samantha (Knopp) and John Geile, Steven, Cody, Har-ley. Kai, Kaylin,Tucker, Bridget and Kasey Carvey . Michael, Owen, and Levi. Jak and Charli. Ryder and Cali. Adalissa and Izabelle Penhorwood. Avery and Jackson Newgard. Great Great grandchildren: Maxwell Geile and Jaxon Carvey.

We would like to extend our thanks and appreciation to the Pines of Mission and the Mountain View Care Center of Ronan for the wonder-ful care given to our mom - grandmother over the years.

A memorial service will be held Thursday, July 7, 2022, at 11:00 am at The Lake Funeral Home. Burial will follow at Lakeview Cemetery. Instead of flowers we suggest a donation to the blind or a charity of your choice.
