Eneas Raymond Vanderburg

November 1, 1927 — March 11, 2019

Eneas Raymond Vanderburg, age 92, of Arlee, MT passed away March 10, 2019 in Ronan, MT. Eneas was born November 1, 1927 near Placid Lake to Agnes and Jerome Vanderburg. Jerome was employed by the Civil Conservation Corp so when Eneas became school age he attended the CCC Camp school until the Camp closed. From there he went to Lapwai, ID and attended school there. Coming home he attended school in Arlee, MT.

Eneas enlisted in the US Army, 82nd Airborne. During his military service he traveled to many different places and would often tell his family of his experiences. Being a paratrooper was what he always dreamed about as a young boy.

Eneas met Betsy Plant and together they had 3 daughters; Shirley, Elizabeth, and Ruby. He also had one stepson Clarence (Beeb) Charlo.

Eneas lived a full life. He did things and went places most of us can only think about. He touched many lives with his easy going, friendly, and helpful way of meeting life head on. Whether he was cutting Christmas trees, working at Plains Lumber Mill, Idaho Pole Co., Post and Poling, firefighting, or helping out on the family farm, he worked hard. He was never one to be idle. Eventually he took over the family farm raising cattle until he retired.

In 1971 Eneas married Alice Martin. Together they lived life to the fullest. Being both retired they enjoyed camping, hiking, fishing, hunting, and sight-seeing. Alice passed away leaving a void in his life.
Eneas was preceded in death by his 2 daughters, Elizabeth and Shirley. Elizabeth died at birth and Shirley passed away in July of 2006. Eneas is also preceded in death by his parents Jerome and Agnes, his brothers and sisters, grandparents, aunts, and uncles.

Eneas is survived by his daughter Ruby Vanderburg of Arlee, MT, stepson Clarence (Beeb) Charlo of Hermiston, OR, his brother Joe Vanderburg of Arlee, MT sisters Anna Bunce of Arlee, MT and Lucy Clark of Polson, MT. Eneas is survived by 3 grandchildren June McDonald, Luke Altenhofen, and Loushie Charlo; 10 great-grandchildren Donovan McDonald, Connor, Evelyn, and Rhett Altenhofen, Larenz and SaanJay SmallBoy, Landon, Shannon, and Chera Charlo, Kristin Bruce ; and also 1 great great-grandchild; Wyatt Bruce.
