Gary Neal Keener ascended into the arms of Our Lord on April 21, 2026, in Polson, Mt.

Gary passed away peacefully at home surrounded by loved ones. Gary was born October 11, 1954, in Billings, Mt. He was the youngest son of Bernard R. Keener and Leora J. (Easton) Keener.

Gary graduated from Melstone, Mt High School in 1973. Gary honorably served in the Navy, as an Electronics Warfare Petty Officer Second Class from January 1974-January 1980.

Gary married Perlita Keener with her twin sons, Richard and Ricky. They decided to make their home in Alaska. Gary and Perlita had a son together, Robert. In 2000, Gary and Cindy (Helmey, Dell) united in marriage. Cindy had two children from her previous marriage, Shasta and Chris Dell. Gary raised them, lovingly, as if they were his own children.

Gary built his career in the telecommunications industry, dedicating 35 years with a single organization. Gary established a remarkable legacy within his field and was respected and treasured amongst his colleagues. In fact, some solutions that he developed are still currently being utilized.

Upon Gary’s retirement, they both decided to spend their lives back in Montana where they had grown up. Gary finished his days in their home they built for themselves in Polson Mt.

Gary’s life was built on God, Family and Country.

Gary’s two older brothers, Ronald and Jack and his oldest sister Kathleen Stanhope preceded Gary’s passing.

Survivors are his sister Karen McManus, his wife Cindy, his son Robert as well as his stepchildren.

Memorial services with military honors will be held at a later date at Yellowstone National Cemetery in Laurel, MT.
