Georgia "Jo" Arlene Weaver

Georgia A. Weaver  - Jo to family and friends - went home to be with her Lord on August 29, 2026, at her home in Polson, Montana, at the age of 90.

Jo was born in Kalispell, Montana, on September 13, 1935, to George W. Culbert and Amy Conant Culbert, both of Kalispell. She was a fifth-generation Montanan; her great-grandfather, Captain Alfred P. Anderson, was master of the stern-wheeler Klondike, which carried passengers and freight on Flathead Lake. Since her father was in the US Navy at a young age, Jo began a childhood of travel that took the family to China, Japan, the Philippines, Panama, Hawaii, and both coasts of the United States. They were evacuated from both China and the Philippines ahead of World War II. Jo graduated from Granby High School in Norfolk, Virginia.

At 17, she entered nursing school, graduating as a registered nurse from the three-year program at San Diego County Hospital School of Nursing, in association with San Diego State College. She began her career as relief head nurse in obstetrics - labor, delivery, and postpartum - then moved to the p.m. shift as charge nurse so she could take further classes at San Diego State during the day. Her next position was charge nurse on the p.m. shift in obstetrics at West Seattle General Hospital.

On August 28, 1958, she married Richard P. “Dick” Weaver. She continued in nursing, full-time and part-time, for 18 years, working in many areas of the profession wherever Dick’s education and career as a civil engineer took them - Modesto, Sacramento, Fresno, and San Diego, California. When Dick retired from the California Department of Transportation as Deputy Director and Chief Engineer, they moved home to Montana, settling in Big Arm.

Faith and family were the center of Jo’s life. She served as a volunteer church librarian in several churches over a period of 30 years, taught ladies’ Bible studies for 15 years, taught Sunday school and children’s church, and worked in some area of Christian education for more than 50 years. She was a member of First Baptist Church of Polson, the Gideons Auxiliary, and Concerned Women for America, and she volunteered with the Arthritis Foundation and the Sjögren’s Foundation. Her hobbies were oil painting, photography, gardening and landscaping, interior design, scrapbooking, sewing, reading, and writing. Her greatest joys were her family and her faith.

Jo is survived by her husband of 68 years, Dick Weaver, of Polson; her daughters Susan Johnson and her husband, Rick, and Sandra Anderson and her husband, Jeff; her grandchildren Kirsten Manda and her husband, Frank; Kristoffer Johnson and his wife, Stacy; Jerad Anderson; and Joel Anderson; four great-grandchildren; and her brother, Jim Culbert of Arizona. She was preceded in death by her parents and by her brother Bill Culbert.
