It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Geraldine Madeline Hewankorn, lovingly known as Geri, who passed away surrounded by her family on December 12, 2025, at the age of 67. Geri was born on April 12, 1958, in Hot Springs, Montana, to Aloysius Sr. and Patricia (Lefthand)Hewankorn.
She grew up in Dayton, Montana, where she formed lifelong connections and deep roots within her community. Geri attended Polson High School and later continued her education at IAIA in Santa Fe, New Mexico.
Geri dedicated many years of her life to serving others, most recently, working at Three Chiefs (People Center) for eight years, where she was known for her caring heart, strong work ethic, and compassion for those around her.
Geri was preceded in death by her parents, Aloysius Sr. and Patricia Hewankorn; her son, Michael “Mook” Hewankorn; her sisters, Dolly Irvine, Josephine Lefthand, Rachel Hewankorn, and Ramona Hewankorn; and her brother, Jerome “Tuggy” Hewankorn.
Geri was a devoted and loving mother. She is survived by her children: Brian Hewankorn; Jeremy Gibson; Dan Gibson; Brandon (Kat) Gibson; Ashley (Frank) Hewankorn; and Randy Quequesah. Her legacy continues through her beloved grandchildren: Jerome, Isabelle, Elizabeth, Chris, Twila, Marcus, Anna, Keeana, Randall, Jeremiah, Xavier, LeiLani, Lailah, LeShawn, Nate, and Alannah, as well as her cherished great-grandchildren: Kenai, Elan, Ervaeyah, and Jerriah.
In her free time, Geri found joy in beading, sewing, and huckleberry picking. She especially loved watching her granddaughter play softball and taking Wuvz swimming. More than anything, Geri treasured time spent with her grandchildren; they were truly her greatest joy and the center of her world.
Geri will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her. Her kindness, strength, and unwavering love for her family will live on in the hearts of many.
Services will begin on Sunday, December 14, at 5:00 p.m. at the Elmo Community Center, with the rosary beginning at 8:00 p.m. Funeral services will be held on Monday, December 15, beginning at 10:00 a.m., followed by a feast and give-away. In accordance with Geri’s wishes, she will be cremated.
