Gloria Jean
(Yerian) Smith
November 30, 1947 – February 20, 2026
It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of Gloria (Yerian) Smith, a devoted mother, sister, and friend, who left us on February 20th. To her family and childhood friends, she was affectionately known as Fuzz. Born on November 30, 1947, in St. Ignatius, MT to Asa and Julia Soucie Yerian, she grew up in Hamilton, MT, where she formed lifelong friendships and developed the independent spirit that would define her throughout her life.
As an adult, Gloria held several jobs, including working as a teacher’s aide, a prep cook, and a seamstress. After retiring, she returned to St. Ignatius, where she reconnected with old friends and extended family members from her mother’s side.
Creative, resilient, and fiercely independent, Gloria found joy in sewing, crocheting, beading, and crafting handmade items that she often shared with those she loved. She was an avid reader of romance and mystery novels, and she had a special fondness for owls—collecting owl‑themed treasures that reflected her unique personality and gentle curiosity.
Gloria had a deep love of animals, a passion that she encouraged in her son. When her son joined 4‑H, she also served as a leader.
Her personality, creativity, and quiet strength will be remembered by all who knew and loved her.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Asa and Julia; sister, Joanne Hawthorne; and niece, Denise Campbell.
She is survived by her son, Robin; sisters Sue and Jeanette Yerian; sister Bunny and brother-in-law Paul Earsley, nephews Joe Peavy, Greg King, Dee Campbell, Gary Campbell and Tim Ferguson; and nieces Danyelle Yerian and HoneyRae King.
In keeping with Gloria’s wishes, she will be cremated, and no services will be held, as she requested. Memories and condolences may be sent to the family at www.lakefuneralhomeandcremation.com.
Arrangements are under the care of The Lake Funeral Home and Crematory.
