James “Jim” Brueckmann, age 66, passed away on April 15, 2026, at St. Patrick Hospital in Missoula, Montana. Jim was born on April 10, 1960, to Charles and Elizabeth Brueckmann.
He grew up in Polson, Montana, where he built strong roots and formed lifelong connections within the community.
He attended Anaconda Job Corps, where he earned his G.E.D. and a state certification in welding. Shortly after completing his training, he joined the United States National Guard. Following his service, Jim worked various jobs, including at a stove manufacturing shop, Malones Irrigation, and Plum Creek Mill, before opening his own mechanic shop in the late 1980s, known as Jim’s Auto Repair.
Jim was known for his kindness and his deep knowledge of cars. He took great pride in his work as a welder, mechanic, and father. In his free time, he enjoyed racing, reading, playing computer games, and cards. Anyone who knew Jim understood his uncanny ability to gather people around the table, sharing stories, memories, and laughter late into the night.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Charles and Elizabeth Brueckmann; his granddaughter, Violet Brueckmann; and his dearest friend, Jake Carpentier.
He is survived by his former wife and close friend, Julie Brueckmann; his children, Cory (Jazzmyn) Brueckmann, Daniel (Shaelynn) Brueckmann, and Adam Brueckmann; twin brother John (Mary),and his grandchildren, Jessica, Vivian, Dodge, Alena, and Tauren.
Jim will be remembered for the memories he shared, the work he did, and the love he gave to those around him.
A graveside service will be held on April 24, 2026, at 2:00 p.m. at Lakeview Cemetery in Polson, Montana. A celebration of life will be held at a later date.
