Kara Anne Walker passed away on October 5, 2025, at St. Joseph Hospital in Polson Montana, surrounded by her friends and family. Kara was born May 28, 1987, in Kalispell Montana. She was the daughter of Orsino Walker and Leslie Kallowat of Elmo.
Kara was known for her vibrant spirit and infectious laughter. As a young child you could find her at the lake. Kara would spend countless summers swimming, kayaking at the lake. Her love for horses and riding was a big part of her life as well. She enjoyed riding all the way up to her teens.
Kara attended school in the Polson Public Schools. While In school she participated in playing basketball, excelled as a track star, beginning in the 8th grade and continuing through her junior and senior years. As an 8th grader she participated in track, throwing the shot put where she took 1st place at each meet she attended and brought home a blue ribbon. As a freshman she missed participating in the State track meet by only a few inches. The following year as a sophomore she qualified for the state track meet, and she placed 3rd. She returned her junior and took 1st and was a State Champion. In Kara's senior year she returned to the State meet and Took First place again making her a back-to-back State Champion for Polson High School.
Kara graduated from High School in 2006. Kara had received several letters of interest from several Colleges offering her a Track Scholarship.
Kara began working and became a Security Officer at the Kwataqnuk Resort.
In 2010 Kara was involved in a serious car accident. Because of this Kara did end up having to have her leg amputated.
Kara married Michael Koso in Elmo where they made their home. In this marriage they had one Daughter, Agatha. They later separated. Kara was living with her father. As time went on, Kara developed some medical issues that took a toll on her, and she became very ill. She spent the last six weeks in hospital battling her illness which she could not overcome.
Kara was preceded in death by her mother Leslie and her grandparents, Howard Kallowat, May Cannon and Bernice Hewankorn.
Kara is survived by her beautiful daughter Agatha Koso, her brother Howard Walker and Eva of Elmo, brother Tyrell Walker and Adrienne of Ronan and sister Shavonne Walker of Elmo, her father Orsino Walker of Elmo and numerous nieces and nephews who she loved dearly.
Kara's services will begin on Tuesday, October 7, 2025, in Elmo at 3:00 pm, Rosary at 8 pm. Funeral services will be the following day on Wednesday, October 8th at 10:00 am, all at Elmo Hall.
