Marcia Darlene Cyr

Marcia Darlene Nearman Cyr, 89, of Big Arm, Montana, passed away peacefully in Polson on September 11, 2026, following a courageous battle with cancer.

Marcia was born on November 11, 1936, in Missoula, Montana, to Marcus Nearman and Violet Ferris. She was the oldest of four siblings: Steve Nearman, Helen Green, and Dennis Ferris.

Marcia graduated from Alberton High School in 1956 and earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Home Economics from the University of Montana in 1960. She taught school in Stevensville, Montana, and Spokane Valley, Washington.

On June 30, 1961, Marcia married her high school sweetheart, Lester Cyr, in Missoula. They moved to Southern California, where they started their family. In 1970, they returned to Montana with their three young sons and later lived in Great Falls, Missoula, Polson, and Big Arm.

Marcia was devoted to raising her three sons, Michael, Brian, and Craig. A passionate supporter of their participation in high school and college sports, she remained an enthusiastic fan of the Polson Pirates and the Montana Grizzlies throughout her life. She also supported Les in owning and operating the local Radio Shack store before their retirement.

Marcia and Les loved living on Flathead Lake and, following retirement, enjoyed splitting their time between Montana and Yuma, Arizona. Marcia was active in the Garden Club, Eastern Star, and her church community. She sang in the church choir and shared her love of music by playing the piano.

Marcia was preceded in death by her husband, Lester; her parents, Marcus and Violet; and her sister, Helen Green.

She is survived by her three sons: Michael (Patti) and their children, Alex and Peri; Brian (Amy) and their daughter, Sarah; and Craig (Wendy); and grandchildren, Madison and Connor. She is also survived by her brother, Dennis Ferris (Kathy), and nephews Brandon and Jerod (Jen); and by her brother, Steve Nearman (Marsha), and nephews Mark and Shane.

A memorial service will be held at The Lake Funeral Home in Polson, Montana at 1pm on Friday, October 2, 2026.
