Marilyn Frances Woods

Marilyn Frances Woods, of Ronan, Montana, passed away peacefully on September 12, 2026, with her dear daughter-in-law Heather at her side.

She was born May 23, 1932, in Independence, Missouri. She spent her life as a dedicated mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, a caring nurse, and a steadfast friend. She welcomed neighborhood friends to her generous dinner table and was always able to feed one more. When her children heard the cowbell ringing from the front door, they knew it was time to race home for a hot meal prepared with much love.

Marilyn was a 1955 graduate of the Kansas University School of Nursing and served her patients with care and compassion. She continued to work when possible while focusing on her primary passion of raising her five children.

She was pleased to see her grandchildren grow up and was delighted to be known as GG by her lovely great-grandchildren.

Marilyn is survived by her children, Steven Woods of Kansas, Tiffany Love Smith of Alabama, Dennis and Kim Woods of Vermont, and Tom Woods and Jennifer Shining of South Dakota. She is survived by her daughter-in-law, Heather Woods of Ronan, Montana, her niece, Ann Bozeman Woods of Washington, grandchildren, Jessica, Brian, Bradley, Braden, Streeter, Lucy, Samantha, Macklin, Natalie, and Rain, granddaughters-in-law Bethany Woods and Katherine Woods, grandson-in-law Andrew Schmidt, and her great-grandchildren, George, Naomi, Frederick (Fritz), Chloe, Hazel and Henry.

She was preceded in death by her beloved father Marshall Miller, her mother Frances Miller, her brother Monty Miller, her dedicated son, Don Woods, and her granddaughter Ashley Woods.

We will remember Marilyn’s loving heart and generous spirit. She was at peace with her life and comforted by her faith. Marilyn’s family wishes to thank St. Luke Extended Care in Ronan, Montana for their wonderful care, kindness and compassion. We are also deeply thankful for the dedicated and tireless care provided by her Ronan family.

In lieu of flowers the family welcomes donations to the Saint Luke Community Healthcare Foundation.
