Our family is sad to announce the passing of our father Robert E Edwards on March 13, 2021. He was born September 5, 1921. Robert was 99 years old and resided at St. Joseph's Assisted Living in Polson Montana.
Robert grew up in Marion Montana where he was raised by his grandparents. Robert served in the Army Air Corp during World War II and after his discharge he moved to Kalispell, Montana. Robert got a job as a meat cutter at Sykes grocery where he met the love of his life Ann Catherine Cote. They married and had 3 sons, Robert, Richard, and Steve. The family later moved to Wickenburg, Arizona where daughter Ruth was born.
Eventually Robert moved the family to Colorado where he worked for Safeway as a meat cutter and later managed the Deli for Safeway. Robert retired in his early 60s. Robert and Ann moved back to Bitterroot Lake in Marion, Montana where they enjoyed 14 wonderful years on the lake. During this time, they attended the Kalispell Presbyterian Church. Robert (Bob) loved fishing, hiking, eating a good steak and visiting with friends and family. He loved the lord and was a loyal husband, father, uncle, grandfather, great grandfather, father-in-law, brother, and friend.
He loved giving back to the community and spent hours volunteering at the Kalispell food bank. His sense of humor would light up a room. He was kind to all and never turned anyone away. He was a man in every sense of the word and could fix or build anything from cars to fences. We will all miss him dearly and find comfort that he is with our mother, no longer lonely or in pain.
Robert is survived by his son Richard, son Steve & family (two grandsons & two granddaughters) and his daughter Ruth & family (husband Todd, grandson Jason, granddaughter Tiffany & her son/great grandson Andres).
He was preceded in death by his oldest son, and by his beloved wife of 74 years.
Services are pending and will be announced this summer.
