Sidney Lee Powell

Sidney Schall Powell, age 88 of Arlee, passed away at her home on February 1, 2026. She was born on May 21, 1937, in Missoula to Ed and Anne Schall.

As a young girl on the family ranch in Arlee, Sidney’s love of rodeo and horse racing began. She liked to talk about barrel racing on her gray mare and going to the fairs in Montana to racehorses with her dad.

When Sidney married Tuffy, they traveled to Washington and Oregon, racing horses and raising their family. Sidney worked in the racing office in Montana, Washington, and Oregon for over 40 years making many friendships along the way. She retired in 2005 and lived at their home in Arlee. In retirement she enjoyed her grandchildren and many friends. She loved baking, knitting, quilting and her beautiful flowers.

Sidney was preceded in death by her husband Tuffy Powell in 2018.

Survivors include Brent and Jeff Powell and their families; five grandsons, two great grandsons; brother Ted Schall and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.

A celebration of life is being planned for this summer.
