It is with heavy hearts and profound sadness that we announce the passing of our beloved mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and friend, Violet Kimmel, on February 26th, 2026. She left this world peacefully, surrounded by her cherished family, just as she lived her life - in the embrace of love.
Violet arrived with her own built-in best friend, Verna, on June 17, 1937, in the small, welcoming town of Wolf Point, Montana, to Herbert and Suzie Krahn. She was one of four siblings, all who shared an unbreakable bond. Violet attended a quaint two-room schoolhouse in her early years, later attending Charlo High School. Her education laid the foundation for a life filled with curiosity, kindness, and a profound love for her community.
In 1952, Violet's life took a joyous turn when she met the love of her life, Dale Kimmel, at an Easter sunrise service. It was a moment she fondly recalled as "madly in love at first sight," charmed by Dale's short pants and warm smile. They married in 1955 and enjoyed 52 years of devoted partnership until Dale's passing, in 2007. Together, they raised a beautiful family and created a home filled with laughter, warmth, and countless cherished memories.
Violet was a devoted stay-at-home mom, a role she embraced with dedication and love. She was the heart of her family, always ready with a warm meal or a fresh haircut, serving not only her family but her entire community with grace and generosity. Her culinary skills were matched only by her talents in sewing and crocheting, creating beautiful pieces that were gifts of love to those around her.
Violet's life was a tapestry of love, laughter, and kindness. She delighted in games of cribbage, pinochle, and dominoes, often surrounded by her children and grandchildren who brought her endless joy. Her sweet, kind words and colorful sense of humor were her trademarks, along with her remarkable ability to truly listen and care about everyone's stories.
Violet is precede in death by her beloved husband, Dale Kimmel; her parents, Herbert and Suzie Krahn; her brother, Marvin Krahn; her twin sister, Verna Hughes; Dale’s brothers Heath, Ron, Don, and twin, Gale, her granddaughter, Buffy Sue; her adored niece, Donna Monroy; her beloved nephew Evin Kimmel, both whom she shared such a special bond with. Their memories will forever be cherished in our hearts.
She leaves behind a legacy of love through her children, Mary Sue McEvoy, Cindi (George) Guth, Dale (Kim) Kimmel, Jim (Tony) Kimmel, brother Larry Krahn, her grandchildren, Holly, Tyson, David, Amanda, Heath, Jacob, Kaycee, Didi, Noble, Able, Roseanne and her great-grandchildren, Jayden, Lucy, Valentine, Zhoey, Legend, Kingston, Everly, Tristan, Hailey, Chase, Brandon, Violet, Graham, Ayden, Syla, Bailey, Mikayla, and CJ. She also leaves behind the Hughes, Kimmel, and Krahn children, whom she mothered with equal measures of love and care as if they were her own, because when there are twins involved, you share everything.
A Celebration of Violet's Life will be held in June, at an undecided date. Where we will gather to honor the incredible woman, she was and the love she shared so freely. Her family extends their deepest gratitude to the special doctors and nurses who cared for Violet with such compassion and grace in her final years. As we say goodbye to our beloved Violet, we are comforted by the knowledge that her spirit lives on in the hearts of those she loved. She was the best person you could ever have on your side, and her legacy of kindness and love will continue to inspire all who knew her.
Thank you, Violet, for the beautiful life you shared with us. You will forever remain in our hearts. We will miss you dearly.
Rest in peace, our dear friend Violet.
