Walter Douglas “Doug” Morigeau, age 93, passed away on Wednesday, August 6, 2025, at St. Joseph Assisted Living in Polson. Doug was born May 14, 1932, in Wellington, UT.

In Doug’s younger years he lived in Wellinton, UT, Butte and Polson, MT, Minnesota, and San Francisco, CA. Doug moved back to Polson in 1946. He received a scholarship to play football at Western Montana College and after the return of his military service he continued his education at the University of Montana. Doug served in the United States Navy during the Korea War from 1951 through 1954. During his time serving his country, Doug met and became a pen pal with Shirley Shepard, the love of his life of Ronan. They united marriage in September of 1956 and raised five children, Michael, Kenneth, Kurt, Rene’, and Denise. They were their pride and joy.

Doug will be greatly missed by many that was touched by his kindness, generosity, sense of humor, and his love of Jesus Christ our Savior.

The family would like to thank his doctor, Dr. John Foster and nurse, Castle of St. Luke Healthcare and numerous caregivers at Polson Health & Rehab along with Providence Assisted Living in Polson. Dad enjoyed each of the residences, and the staff for the past 2 years at the assisted living and always insisted on eating at the center and said, ‘It was the best food’. A special thank you goes out to all of dad’s caregivers at the assisted living, and the Veteran’s Administration and Community Care Planning.

He was preceded death by his parents, E.W. and Sylvia Morigeau, his dearly beloved wife, Shirley, their sons, Michael and Kurt, and daughter Rene’, and step-sister Francis.

He is survived by his loving and caring son, Kenneth of (TX), and daughter, Denise of (MT). His grandchildren Marcy of (CA), Ryland of (TX), Timothy of (CA); two great grandchildren, Jonathan of (CA) and Luke of (TX) along with numerous cousins, nieces and nephews.

Please join us and attend his graveside service with full military honors which will be held this Wednesday, August 13, 2025, at 2:00 pm at the Lakeview Cemetery. A Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, September 27, 2025, at the KwaTaqNuk Resort in the Michel/Victor Banquet Room from 1 pm to 4 pm with a luncheon to commemorate dad’s life’s accomplishments.
